Aeolian Harp
My group was made up of four students. We set out to create an Aeolian Harp. An Aeolian Harp is a string instrument that makes sound when it comes in contact with wind. We chose a very basic design to make sure we completed it in our limited time. It consisted mainly of a laser cut box and piano string.

The Process
To create our aeolian harp we first designed the plan for our laser cut box using the website Makercase.

Once we printed our box we glued it together with wood glue and let it dry for 24 hours.
Me gluing our box
Once our box was dry, we drilled a hole in the top piece to amplify the sound. Kind of like on a guitar.

Then we drilled holes on each side of the box and inserted screws to tie our strings from

We then tied our string to the screws and found that the tension the string had was causing the wood to bend. To solve this we drilled metal clamps to the box.

Our Final Product
Stone Instrument
Another component of our project was making an instrument out of a stone. Each group of 4 would create one stone instrument and collectively we make a xylophone like instrument.
After choosing our rock we needed to find the nodes of it. A node is where
We did this by pouring chalk dust all over the stone and hitting it repeatedly.
Then we mounted our stone where those nodes are to make a beautiful sound.
